Private Pilots Licence

The PPL syllabus has been developed in accordance with the new Joint Aviation Regulations (JAR) and the Air Operators and Pilots Association (AOPA) together with the Civil Aviation Authority who regulate flight training in the UK. Although flying is a very serious undertaking the training involved is infact very enjoyable and rewarding. The training program is designed to take you through the various phases at a pace which suits your available time and level of experience. The 45 hr course, which is the minimum hours required to complete a licence (it can be achieved in this time) can take as little as 3-4 weeks as intensive training or up to 24 months for individually prepared programs.

Learning to fly probably ranks as one of the most popular life time achievements and like many experiences your hunger for flying will grow beyond the PPL training. Once qualified you can hire our aircraft for weekends with other members and friends, and go flying across the UK and in to Europe. When hiring an aircraft you are only charged for the time the aircraft is in the air. The first step we suggest is a trial lesson. This will give you hands on experience of flying an aircraft and allow you to discuss in detail with an instructor the practical issues of gaining your PPL. We will then design a program to suit your available time. This program will give you an indication of the amount of commitment we will require from yourself to succeed in passing the course. Following this first step your path to a licence is;

  1. Obtain Class II medical
  2. Purchase PPL Pack
  3. Complete the PPL course and 7 ground exams
  4. Pass Skills Test
  5. Apply for Licence

Once you have obtained your licence you are ready to fly, however we understand your experience will still be limited and the 25 hours after your training will increase your confidence. Your instructor will always be on hand to help and advise. We also run courses for newly qualified pilots to help them achieve the experience of flying across to France and in to the UK.
